Travis Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs’ star tight end, took a recent bout of boos in stride while attending an NBA finals game.

Kelce was in Dallas to watch the Mavericks face off against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

TRAVIS KELCE AT THE NBA FINALS

Accompanied by his teammate, Patrick Mahomes, and Mahomes’ wife, Brittany, Kelce found himself at the receiving end of some unexpected fan hostility.

On the 29 May episode of his podcast, New Heights, Kelce shared his experience, according to People.

“I got booed twice,” he said, chuckling. “It’s whatever. I get it.”

Kelce, who is more accustomed to jeers from rival fans on the football field, found it odd to be booed as a mere spectator.

The reaction from the crowd was particularly striking when contrasted with their reception of Mahomes.

The Chiefs’ quarterback, a Texas native, received a roaring ovation when shown on the jumbotron.

TRAVIS KELCE GETS BOOED

“I got caught off guard,” Kelce admitted to his brother, Jason, during the podcast.

Kelce was taking a selfie when Mahomes nudged him to point out the jumbotron, according to the Independent.

“And then I heard all the boos and I’m like: ‘Oh s***, I’m getting booed!

Alright, thanks! Nice to see you guys, Dallas. Appreciate the warm welcome.’” The difference in reception was stark.

“And then they showed Pat and everybody’s like: ‘Yeah!’ Hometown kid, man. Best football player in the world,” Kelce added. This highlighted the disparity.

Kelce speculated on the reason behind the boos.

TRAVIS KELCE AND DALLAS

Being from Cleveland, Ohio, he thought perhaps his non-local status contributed to the reaction.

“I’m not from Dallas, I’m just kinda like an innocent bystander. Maybe they just don’t like the Chiefs, I don’t know,” he said.

Reflecting on the city’s passionate sports culture, Travis Kelce remarked, “Dallas is about as legit of a sports town as it gets.”

Despite the booing incident, Kelce seemed unfazed and in good spirits, according to Perez Hilton.

His weekend at the NBA finals followed a romantic European trip with his girlfriend, pop superstar Taylor Swift.

SUPPORTING TAYLOR SWIFT

The couple was spotted in Italy, enjoying Swift’s performances in Paris.

Kelce, alongside other celebrities like Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper, was seen dancing and enjoying the show.

Swift, known for her attention to detail, even paid homage to Travis Kelce during her performance.

The singer celebrated her 87th show, matching Kelce’s NFL jersey number, by donning a Chiefs-inspired two-piece outfit. She also performed her hit song Style from the 1989 era.

While the boos might have been a surprise, Kelce’s reaction showcased his laid-back attitude and sense of humour.

SHRUGGING OFF THE HATE

His brush-off of the incident, coupled with the enthusiastic support for Mahomes, highlighted the dynamic duo’s differing receptions in Dallas.

For Travis Kelce, it was just another day of navigating public life with a smile and a shrug.

As the NFL off-season continues, fans can look forward to seeing more of Kelce, both on and off the field.

Whether he’s being cheered or booed, Kelce’s charisma and talent remain undeniable.

And with his high-profile relationship with Swift, the spotlight on Kelce is unlikely to dim anytime soon.
