Jessica Smith, the memorable actress who played the baby sun in the beloved children’s show Teletubbies in the late 90s to 2000s has welcomed her own little one.

Jessica Smith, the Teletubbies‘ sun baby gave birth to her first child with her long-term boyfriend Ricky Latham. Taking to her feed, Smith posted a cute photo of her newborn and captioned it: “One whole week of you ❤️”.
In another post, she revealed the name of her tiny tot. “Please welcome Poppy Rae Latham 🩷,” she penned.
According to Daily Mail, Smith is a former TV star and is now in her late twenties. She was reported to have appeared in every episode of the Teletubbies show from 1997 to 2003. Teletubbies ran for 365 episodes, Entertainment Tonight reported.
“I am feeling overwhelmed with the amount of love I am receiving from people around the world… I am still overwhelmed with the amount of people who have watched and are watching Teletubbies, the amount of messages I receive and hearing the stories told by people around the world,” Smith was quoted as saying.

Jessica Smith’s name was reportedly submitted to the Teletubbies‘ production company when she was around nine months. Thereafter, she’s said to have gone through a lengthy audition process until the production eventually chose her to play the sun.
Speaking to BBC South East back in 2017, Smith opened up about where it all began.
“I was being weighed at the hospital. My mum took me and it just happened to be the same time that the producer of the old series had come in and wanted the hospital to get in contact with them if they’d seen any smiley babies,” she explained.
