American rapper and Hip-Hop mogul Jay Z has called out the Recording Academy for failed to recognise and award his wife and musician Beyoncé with the Album of the year Grammy, despite having won the most Grammy awards in history.

JAY Z CALLS OUT GRAMMYS FOR SNUBBING HIS WIFE

On Sunday, 4 February, while accepting his Dr. Dre Global Impact Award for his work in the music industry, the Reasonable doubt rapper took a moment to put the Grammy’s on blast for constantly snubbing his wife.

In his acceptance speech Jay Z said, “I don’t want to embarrass this young lady, but she has more Grammys than everyone and never won album of the year”, while looking at his wife.

Jay Z continued: “So even by your own metrics, that doesn’t work. Think about that: the most Grammys, never won Album of the Year. That doesn’t work”.

In 2023 Beyoncé who is the most-nominated female artist in Grammys history, made history by becoming the artist with the most Grammys history. The renaissance artist has 32 Grammy awards.

‘WHEN I GET NERVOUS I TELL THE TRUTH’

Jay Z continued by reassuring some of the nominees to not be discouraged about not winning a Grammy.

“Some of you going to go home tonight and feel like you’ve been robbed; some of you may get robbed. Some of you don’t belong in the category. No, when I get nervous, I tell the truth”.

The Hip Hop mogul continued: ‘Outside of that, you know, we gotta keep showing up. And forget the Grammys for a second, just in life—as my daughter sits and stares at me, nervous as I am—just in life, you gotta keep showing up”.

“Just keep showing up. Forget the Grammys, you got to keep showing up. Until they give you all those accolades you feel you deserve. Until they call you ‘chairman,’ until they call you a ‘genius,‘ until they call you ‘the greatest of all time.’ You feel me? Thank you”, Jay Z concluded his speech.
