While Dricus du Plessis has clinched his first  UFC world title, Drake has seen the return of his own – a “curse.” This was after he lost a whopping $700,000 or R13 million after betting on the South African opponent – Sean Strickland.

The US rapper is known for “jinxing” anyone he places a bet on.

On Sunday morning – SA time – du Plessis made history by becoming the continent’s first UFC champion.

DRAKE CURSE UNDEFEATED?

While South Africans celebrated Dricus du Plessis’s sweet victory, Drake was likely licking his wounds, like Sean Strickland.

“Nou weet hulle,” the SA fighter excitedly told the crowd in response to his popular catchphrase: “Hulle weet nie wat ons weet nie.”

One tweep posted: “Drake keeps loosing money. Nou weet hulle wat ons weet!”.

But it’s not the first time Drake has lost six to seven figures on a UFC fight bet.

Last September, Drake lost a substantial amount of cash after he wagered money on fellow UFC fighter Israel Adesanya to beat Strickland.

Drake then lost another big payday after backing Adesanya to beat Brazilian Alex Pereira in October.

A few months later, Drake lost another bet when his favourite Leon Edwards lost to  Colby Covington at UFC 296 in December.
