In a recent social media frenzy, tennis legends Serena Williams and Coco Gauff expressed their elation over the announcement of the release date for Zendaya’s upcoming tennis-themed movie, ‘Challengers.’

ZENDAYA AND CHALLENGERS

The Golden Globe-winning actress took to Instagram on New Year’s Day to reveal the film’s new poster and drop the release date bomb – 26 April as reported by Sportskeeda.

The movie, directed by Luca Guadagnino and featuring a star-studded cast including Josh O’Connor, Mike Faist, and Zendaya, follows the intriguing tale of a former tennis player turned coach, played by Zendaya.

Her world takes an unexpected turn when her husband (Faist) faces her former lover (O’Connor) in a Challenger tournament.

Originally slated for a debut at the prestigious Venice Film Festival with a theatrical release in August 2023, ‘Challengers’ faced an unexpected delay due to the Writers Guild of America strike last year.

Hollywood actors rallied in support of the strike, leading to the rescheduling of the film’s release to 2024.
