DNA found on Senzo Meyiwa’s crime scene excludes the accused

Senzo Meyiwa’s murder trial seems far from over after new evidence emerged.

Senior forensic analyst Captain Mmampshedi Masetla, who testified as a state witness on Monday, revealed that the DNA on the checkered hat on the crime scene excludes three of the accused.

DNA FOUND ON SENZO MEYIWAS CRIME SCENE EXCLUDES THE ACCUSED

The senior forensic analyst revealed that he analysed the DNA evidence collected from the scene, which did not match the accused.

The test was conducted after it was revealed that the checkered hat found on the crime scene after the incident belonged to one of the intruders and was left behind as they fled the crime scene after a failed robbery.

Some witnesses in the murder case made it known that the hat on the crime scene belonged to one of the accused. The court heard that the hat was left behind as they fled.

However, according to senior forensic analyst Captain Masetla, the DNA has excluded the accused, leaving many trying to connect the dots on who killed Meyiwa.

TWO PROFILES FOUND IN TESTS

The DNA tests have seemingly distanced the accused from the alleged crime. However, the court heard that the DNA evidence provided two profiles, meaning it might have been worn by two men or a man and woman.

Captain Masetla dismissed any links between Mthokoziseni Maphisa, Fisokuhle Ntuli, and Muzikawukhulelwa Sibaya from the hat found on the crime scene.
