In 2021, rapper and reality television star Nadia Nakai confirmed that she left Cassper Nyovest’s record label, Family Tree, to “do her own thing”. After announcing the music performers for his fight against Priddy Ugly on Wednesday 28 September, one tweep questioned why Nadia wasn’t on the lineup and Cassper had an interesting reply.

Cassper Nyovest is gearing up for his highly-anticipated boxing match against Priddy Ugly on Saturday 1 October. The likes of Kamo Mphela, Blxckie, Pabi Cooper and Amaroto (Reece Madlisa and Zuma) are set to perform ahead of the fight.

@MavejaMedia asked Cassper why Nadia Nakai wasn’t one of the performers for the event and the rapper had an interesting response…

“Because ha ke hlanye!! Kelello yaka e sebetse hantle tje. (Because I’m not crazy. My mind works fine),” wrote Cassper.

Another tweep chipped in and questioned if Cassper and Nadia were on good terms. The Tito Mboweni responded saying it was not his responsibility to book Nadia. When another tweep asked if it was because she was dating AKA, the rapper said it was “none of his business” who she dates.

“Yeah but it’s no longer my responsibility to book Nadia or promote her. It’s not personal, it’s just business. That should make sense boy now,” wrote the 31-year-old rapper.

“That’s none of my business who she’s with in her personal life. She’s just no longer in business that’s where it ends with me.”

Speaking to veteran SA rapper Slikour, Nadia Nakai confirmed that she was no longer with Cassper’s record label, Family Tree. She said it was time to “do her own thing”.

“When I had the conversation with Cass, I was so scared to talk to him. ‘Like listen, I need to do my own thing and whatever.’ And in the beginning I could feel that he was sad, and I think he hung up on me to be honest”.

Nadia added that Cassper offered her some advice about starting up the label and even gave her ideas for a name.
