Cape Town City starman Khanyisa Mayo has been making headlines in the backdrop of his rumoured transfer to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Khanyisa Mayo’s form has attracted several clubs despite his R38 million price tag.

In the backdrop of his transfer rumours, the star is topping trends as he celebrates his birthday.

On Instagram, Khanyisa Mayo shared a short birthday post that left many trying to connect the dots on his age.

After all, he is younger than we thought. Mayo turned 25 and has a great career ahead of him. He was born on 27 August 1998 in Mthatha, South Africa.

In the backdrop of his birthday post, fellow soccer stars and fans flooded his comments section with birthday wishes.


Khanyisa Mayo started his footballing career on loan with Ubuntu Cape Town in the National First Division from SuperSport United.

He joined Maccabi in the 2018 – 2019 season but only managed a solitary appearance. Mayo then joined Royal Eagles during the 2019 – 2020 season and managed to net three goals from 15 appearances.

From Royal Eagles, he joined Richards Bay before his move to Cape Town City, and it seems the in-form Mayo is Mamelodi Sundowns bound.

Khanyisa Mayo has undoubtedly been the hottest property in the DStv Premiership last season. He finished as the joint-leading scorer last season with 16 goals.

Khanyisa Mayo’s numbers have seen him on the target list of Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and DStv Premiership champions Sundowns. Rumour mill has it that he has also been receiving offers from Europe.
