‘Wild’: Karlien van Jaarsveld son’s hunting themed birthday party
Karlien van Jaarsveld is one of SA’s biggest artists. But the mom of four sure knows how to throw a ‘wild’ kids’ birthday party.

Afrikaans singer Karlien van Jaarsveld recently shared the most adorable photos of her youngest son, Johannes Samuel’s ‘wild’ third birthday.

SPECIAL HUNTING-THEMED BIRTHDAY FOR KARLIEN’S JOHANNES SAMUEL
She’s one of South Africa’s most well-known singers, but at her heart Karlien van Jaarsveld lives for her kids and family. Over the past weekend, the singer, along with friends and family, celebrated the birthday of her youngest son, Johannes Samuel. The little one turned three on 1 April.
Johannes Samuel is Karlien’s son with husband Joe Breytenbach. The couple also shares a daughter, Elah,5. The couple got married in 2017.
The proud Karlien took to social media over the weekend to congratulate her youngest son on his birthday.
“3-year-old today…. Johannes Samuel, you are my wildest bush child who only wants to hunt and hold my hand while doing it…. you will probably always be my baby. I enjoy your life. Love you my April 1st baby,” Karlien wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of her son blowing out three candles on his birthday cake.
To celebrate the little one’s big day, Karlien and Joe hosted a special hunting-themed birthday party for their youngest, complete with little teepee tents each partygoer could take home, delicious treats, and a massive obstacle jumping castle.
The birthday cake featured a buck, camouflage detail, and veld grass.
To celebrate Johannes Samuel’s birthday on 1 April, Karlien posted a special video compilation featuring images from his birth and the past three years of his life.
Karlien also has twin sons Daniël and Eliah with ex-husband, former rugby player Derick Hougaard.
