Media personality Unathi Nkayi will host season two of Festive Get-Together in The Life Artois premiering on 1 December on Mzansi Magic amid controversy about her Kaya FM exit.

Unathi Nkayi was fired from Kaya FM on 17 November and dropped by GQ Magazine as the host of their Man of the Year awards on 23 November. In the era of “cancel culture” when it rains, it pours…

However, the Idols SA judge is not entirely “cancelled”. Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela announced that Unathi will be returning to host season two of Mzansi Magic’s Festive Get-Together in The Life Artois. She will be joined by chef and restaurateur Alessandro Khojane.

Festive Get-Together in The Life Artois will air on Wednesdays at 21:30 on Mzansi Magic, DStv channel 161. The show will repeat on Sundays at 14:00. Unathi and Alessandro host high-profile guests, including working friends, couples and families — who open up about the struggles of finding balance in their busy life.

The season guests include actress Minnie Dlamini and broadcaster Melanie Bala; power couple Khuli Chana and Lamiez Holworthy; as well as television presenter Maps Mponyane and singer J’Something.

Before Unathi was fired from Kaya FM, she reportedly got into an altercation with radio personality Sizwe Dhlomo. Following their heated exchange, the Idols SA judge lodged a complaint against Sizwe with the human resources department, claiming he verbally abused her.

When Sizwe was made aware of the complaint against him, he told HR that all conversations, including those off-air were recorded. He insisted HR listen to the audio clips immediately.

After listening to the recordings HR gave the media personality an opportunity to retract her allegations but she refused.

Tweeps were displeased with Unathi — a firm believer in cancel culture. Many believed that her allegations could have cost Sizwe his job if the conversation was not recorded.
