‘Millions on cars and watches but renting’: AKA’s R40k a month rent

Twitter users have shared their opinion on slain rapper AKA allegedly paying R40k rent a month for his Bryanston home.

Twitter users have reacted to the news that rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, popularly known as AKA was renting his Bryanston home. 

AKA was shot dead outside of Wish Restaurant on Florida Road, Durban on 10 February.

AKA REPORTEDLY PAYING R40K RENT A MONTH FOR BRYANSTON HOME

Sunday World reports that AKA’s furniture has been removed from his home in Bryanston, Gauteng. Many believed the rapper owned the home he was living in but a source tells the publication that he was actually renting and paid R40 000 rent a month.

“It was not his house. He was renting the property and was paying about R40 000 a month. I know people thought this was his house because of the vehicles he was driv- ing,” said a source to the publication.

The rapper reportedly paid his rent in advance until September 2023. However, his landlord allegedly told the Forbes family to remove his furniture as there were new tenants.

TWEEPS WEIGH IN

Twitter users were shocked to learn that the rapper was renting his home as they thought he owned it. One Tweep thought that “superstars” spend millions on cars and watches but are renting their home.

“Everything is wrong especially if ur AKA or any other super star ⭐️ come on now… u can spend millions of rand on cars and watches but u renting,” wrote @jin_fisto.

Tweeps also thought AKA was “broke”. However, others thought he wasn’t broke but not “financially savvy”. 

“Why do South Africans associate renting with being broke or not being financially savy,” wrote @Kokoleo_zn.

“They claim AKA was broke ,but he was paying R40K rent a month,” wrote @Tumelo_011.
