Former South African Finance Minister Tito Mboweni seems to be using his new-found spare time to perfect his culinary skills. Mboweni was recently replaced as finance minister by Enoch Godongwana and is apparently loving it. Taking to Twitter, Mboweni shared a snap of his latest culinary effort – and tweeps were left feeling very impressed.

Mboweni is on to big and better meals

Former Minister for Finance, Tito Mboweni seems to love retired life. After President Cyril Ramaphosa announced a cabinet reshuffle, Mzansi quickly learned that Mboweni was being replaced by Enoch Godongwana.

Mboweni seems to be loving his newfound freedom and has even decided to “up” his culinary skills. Taking to Twitter on Sunday (8 August) the minister joked that he was preparing a “pensioners meal.” While he didn’t say what he was making, a lot of people were probably expecting to see a gingery pilchards dish because Mboweni has proven to love himself some tin fish.

We were all however pleasantly surprised to see that later that day Mboweni had made a lemon pan-fried sardine meal which he paired with couscous and a hearty vegetable curry.

“This is how it ended, beautiful,” he captioned his well-prepared meal.
