Long live Supa Mega, live long! AKA bags DStv Content Creator Award

It was a big night for the Megacy on Saturday, 9 September, when the late AKA won an award at the DStv Content Creator Awards.

It was a bittersweet moment on Saturday, 9 September, at the DStv Content Creator Awards when the late AKA won an award in the Song of The Year category.

AKA WINS DSTV CONTENT CREATOR AWARD

The DSTV Content Creator Awards – which were held on Johannesburg – are a platform that was created to shine a light on South African content creators across the board. Influencers, people, agencies and brands at the forefront of popular culture and content creation are recognised by the Content Creator Awards.

Kiernan “AKA” Forbes, who sadly lost his life in February this year, won the Song of The year Award for his hit song with Nasty C titled Lemons (Lemonade).

His mother, Lynn Forbes, accepted the award on behalf of the family, thanking AKA’s fans – the Megacy – for the support.

MURDER INVESTIGATION UPDATE

In Wednesday, 6 September, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Police Commissioner, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, gave an update about the ongoing investigation into AKA and his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane’s murders.

Mkhwanazi said that they have positively identified one firearm which was used in the murders which took place on 10 February in Durban.

“We as SAPS have identified a few individuals that maybe after discussing with the NPA, we might start bringing them in.”

He further explained that there were many people who were involved, many phone calls that were made during the night and a video footage of the incident that was made public.

“The team has already started with more than 6 TB of data. We downloaded more than 25 cell phones as we speak, and the team is analysing every communication and data in those phones. It’s all from people of interest that might contain information. Cell phones of people who might have been in the area or might have communicated with the deceased. Or any other people associated with the deceased,” Mkhwanazi says.

In addition, he said they have conducted interviews and they have identified a few getaway vehicles.

“Those who might have been present during the incident, some not, and those of interest to us. We have identified a couple of vehicles that were used, some were used as getaways and some portals. Some might have been used by people after and we suspect to be suspects.”
