‘In my zone’: Somizi won’t take your call before 9am – here’s why

Nothing personal: Somizi has taken to Instagram to lecture would-be callers on why he just won’t pick up his phone to take your call before 09:00.

Just this week, Khloe Kardashian revealed that her mother and momager, Kris Jenner, only starts to take calls from 09:30 in the morning after spending the first few hours (from 04:30 to be precise) preparing for the day ahead.

Now, South African media personality Somizi Mhlongo has shared details of his morning routine, and it does not consist of taking calls before 09:00 either…no matter who you are.

Somizi on early morning calls

Somizi took to Instagram to share a clip of himself talking about phone etiquette and answering phone calls early in the morning.

“I have something to share. I’ve got 20 seconds,” he said. Somizi said that he will only answer the call before then if it is an emergency.

“Guys, I forever have an issue with this: don’t call me early in the morning before 9am. I don’t care who you are, don’t call me before 9, please. Do not call me before 9 o’clock unless its an emergency. Like honestly? It is an emergency and we know each other on that level and if it is an emergency, call once and then text. Do you understand? Text, because I am not going to answer your call,” he said.

Nothing personal…

Somizi, who has made various headlines over the last couple of months (and who is being sorely missed by fans on Idols SA), then explained that it is nothing personal, he’s just simply not in the mood to make conversation that time of the day.

“I am not being mean. I am sleeping or I am just in my zone, watching the sun, watching the sky, the birds. I don’t want to talk. I don’t want to talk, guys. So if it is an emergency send a text, If you want to be in my bad books in terms of phone call courtesy, call me two, three, four times — four is a block, two is a ‘what the fudge’. ”
