Radio personality Sizwe Dhlomo cleared the air around his altercation with Idols SA judge Unathi Nkayi, via a Twitter Q & A session on Sunday 21 November.

SIZWE DHLOMO AND UNATHI NKAYI’S ALTERCATION

Kaya FM announced that they have parted ways with Unathi Nkayi on Wednesday 17 November. City Press reported that the Idols SA judge got into an altercation with Sizwe Dhlomo before she was fired. Sizwe was reportedly late for a show which angered Unathi and sparked their alleged argument.

Unathi reported Sizwe to Human Resources (HR) accusing him of verbally abusing her and claiming he is unprofessional. Sizwe told HR that all conversations, including those off-air are recorded when he was made aware of the allegations. The radio personality insisted HR listen to the recordings immediately.

Unathi was provided with an opportunity to retract her allegations when the audio recordings were heard but she refused. Following the City Press article, Sizwe answered questions from Tweeps to clear the air on the altercation.

FIVE BOMBSHELLS FROM SIZWE DHLOMO

1. THE CITY PRESS ARTICLE IS ‘MOSTLY TRUE’

Sizwe said the City Press article is “mostly true” but certain details were incorrect.

The radio personality revealed that the pair did not get called into a meeting together.

“We didn’t get called into a meeting together for example. HR matters are run separately. I didn’t interact with her at all after that so I’m not privy to the details of what transpired on her side once I had logged my complaint,” he tweeted.

2. SIZWE BELIEVES HE WOULD HAVE BEEN FIRED

The radio host revealed that he believes he would have been fired if there were no audio clips to back up his story.

“Verbal abuse is a very serious allegation so I believe I would have been fired but more importantly, my reputation would have been in tatters,” he tweeted.

3. UNATHI AND SIZWE HAD A GREAT WORK RELATIONSHIP

Sizwe revealed that he and Unathi have always had a great working relationship. He said that she is the reason he got his job at the radio station.

“We did get along, nami that’s why I was surprised. Do you know that she’s the reason I’m at Kaya? She is literally the one who DMd me & asked if she could give Greg my number. So every interaction you heard was sincere,” he tweeted.

He also said that they were laughing together 20 minutes before the incident.

4. HE DID NOT SET UNATHI UP

Sizwe stated that he did not set Unathi up because she was in the studio three hour before he walked in.

5. WILL THE AUDIO CLIPS BE LEAKED?

Sizwe told a Tweep he would leak the audio clips “if the time and need arises.”
