Prince Harry and Meghan to adopt Princess Diana’s surname?

Royal author Tom Bower claims that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, could be set to changing their surname.

PRINCE HARRY AND MEGHAN TO TAKE PRINCESS DIANA’S SURNAME?

A royal expert claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been discussing “ditching their Windsor surname” in a “major rebrand”, according to The Hindustan Times. The publication reports that the rebrand could potentially see the couple adopt Prince Harry’s mom — Princess Diana’s surname — Spencer.

The royal expert claimed that the potential change in the surname is a “bid to align with Diana” following the termination of their Spotify deal.

“What’s really interesting in the rebranding of the Sussexes is that Meghan decided her real object in life was to be Diana,” said Bower, according to the publication.

“That has always been her passion, that has also been Harry’s passion, and Meghan went to the extent of suggesting that they should drop the name Windsor and take the surname, Spencer. So she’d be Meghan Spencer – the new Diana,” Bower continued.

“They’ve discussed it not only by themselves but with others too. This isn’t something they’ve plucked out of their minds. They were actively trying to recast themselves as Harry and Meghan Spencer,” the royal author continued adding that the pair would allegedly drop the Sussex title.

PRINCE HARRY, MEGHAN PART WAYS WITH SPOTIFY

This comes after The Wall Street Journal reported that Prince Harry and Meghan ended their podcasting deal with Spotify. There will not be a second season of the pair’s podcast Archetypes despite launching at the top of charts, a source confirmed to The New York Post. Meghan hosted Archetypes with various guests, including Mariah Carey, Mindy Kaling and Serena Williams.

The podcast was created to “investigate, dissect and subvert the labels that try to hold women back.”

A source told the publication that the couple did not produce enough content for a multi-million dollar payout. It seems the decision was mutual. Spotify and Archewell Audio said they have “mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we made together” in a joint statement.

However, the Duke and Duchess seemingly have a better offer with another platform.

“Meghan is continuing to develop more content for the Archetypes audience on another platform,” said a source to the Wall Street Journal.

DUKE AND DUCHESS OF DIOR?

Just days after cutting ties with Spotify, Mail on Sunday reported that Prince Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, is in talks with Dior over a deal. However, a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess told The Telegraph. that the rumours surrounding the couple’s potential partnership with Dior are not true.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were dubbed the “Duke and Duchess of Dior” after the speculation.
