Not for the first time, Nadia Jaftha’s brother Taariq has courted controversy over his wild social media statements.
This time, the sibling of the popular Cape Town influencer was seen going on a religious rant on TikTok. To add insult to injury, he also filmed himself mocking the Bible and destroying the Quran.

NADIA JAFTHA’S BROTHER DESTROYS A QURAN
In recent days, Taariq – the brother of Nadia Jaftha – has been a trending topic on TikTok over his offensive views on multiple topics, including religion.
One particular video saw the father of four insult Christianity and Islam. Taariq later went on a live video, where he ripped out pages of the Quran and made paper jets out of them.
The videos irked social media users, who called for the Cape Town entrepreneur to face the law over his actions.
Social media activist Yusuf Ambramjee tweeted: “This man, Taariq Jaftha, went on TikTok this week and tore pages out of the Holy Quraan -Islam’s Holy Book. This is deeply hurtful to all Muslims.”
Ambramjee called for the South African Human Rights Commission, the SA Police Services, and Islamic bodies to take action against Taariq.

VIEWS ON LGBTQ COMMUNITY
It’s not the first time Nadia Jaftha’s brother offended South Africans.
In late 2021, Taariq made headlines over a homophobic Instagram rant. He even launched his own range of anti-pride merchandise.
In one clip, he said, “LGBT is a disease, not a human right…Stop brainwashing our kids.” Defending his controversial statements, he shared: “It’s freedom of speech”.
The controversial views caught the attention of actor and TV personality Siv Ngesi, who threatened to “teach him a lesson.”
NADIA AND MOM DISTANCE THEMSELVES
Following the 2021 rant, Nadia Jaftha distanced herself from her brother’s controversial statements.
In an Instagram post, she shared in part: “My views have and always be love whoever you want.”
Taariq’s mom, Nawal Jaftha, also released her own statement.
In an emotional video, the mom-of-two said: “Taariq is my son, and yes, I don’t agree with what he has done. He was very blatant and rude, and I hope that he will be guided and that his eyes will open to what he did.
She continued: “I feel that I have done the best as a mother in laying a solid foundation based on good morals, strong ethics, and principles…Taariq has been outspoken, daring, and impulsive and has given me many challenges. How they [Taariq and Nadia Jaftha] choose to conduct themselves is on them.
“Taariq is now a father of four children, and I can only hope that the foundation that I provided is enough for them to carry their journey.”
