South African designer extraordinaire Gert-Johan Coetzee did not disappoint at this year’s Miss South Africa pageant competition. The esteemed designer was one of the five designers chosen to dress the 2023 Miss SA finalists.

‘SYMBOLS OF SOUTH AFRICA’S HEART AND SOUL’

Gert designed five beautiful haute couture gowns for the Miss SA top five contestants, Homba Mazaleni, Nande Mabala, Natasha Joubert, Bryoni Govender and Melissa Nayimuli.

In several posts to his Instagram Gert Johan Coetzee notes that each garment showcases the allure and artistry of haute couture. The designer furthermore explains that the gown aren’t just clothing buy symbol of South Africa’s “heart and soul”.

“The intricate details delicately woven into each gown showcased the true artistry and allure of haute couture. These gowns aren’t mere clothing; they’re living symbols of South Africa’s heart and soul, a radiant example of what can be achieved when unique elements come together in perfect harmony”.

The designer continues: “Hundreds and thousands of beads, each unique in its own right, joining forces to create something truly breathtaking. Each bead, like a voice in our society, contributes to the beauty and grandeur of the whole. Just as Miss South Africa stands for unity and positive change, these gowns stand as a shimmering reminder that our collective strength is unparalleled when we unite”.

DAZZLING IN CUSTOM GERT-JOHAN COETZEE

The evening gowns designer by Gert-Johan Coetzee are similar in design yet different in style and colour.

Homba Mazaleni wore a royal blue beaded dress together with a matching royal blue cape.

Looking sultry in red, Nande Mabala wore a scarlet red studded gown with a matching red silk cape.

Miss SA 2023 winner Natasha Joubert wore an orange figure hugging beaded dress together with a matching cape.

Bryoni Govender looked regal wearing an emerald green beaded Gert-Johan Coetzee gown. She also wore a green matching cape to complete the look.
