Ex-England rugby captain Mike Tindall has compared Springboks supporters to a group of “annoying mosquitoes”. This, after South Africans dragged him on social media for his comments about the national team.

The retired player – who is married to royal Zara Phillips – made the comments in the latest episode of The Good, The Bad, The Rugby podcast.

Last week, Tindall courted controversy after claiming that SA was “undeserving” of a Rugby World Cup win after beating England and France in the competition.

‘IT STILL BAFFLES ME’

Mike Tindall continued to throw shade against the Springboks, who he claims are not world-class quality players.

Fervently backing the All Blacks in the final, Mike – who lost once to SA in a test match during his career said of the Springboks’ success: “It still baffles me.”

In 2003, Mike helped England win the Rugby World Cup.

In 2011, his stint in the tournament was marred with controversy.

Mike was suspended from the team and sent home after he was caught in a “dwarf-throwing contest.” The father of three was also seen chatting up a mystery blonde in a pub’s CCTV footage, despite marrying royal Zara Phillips just a year earlier.
