Lee Jung-jae demands R18.5m per episode on ‘Squid Game 2’

After being cast as one of the key characters on the Netflix show, Squid Game actor Lee Jung-jae recently made headlines for demanding to be paid $1 million (an estimated R18.5 million) per episode on the upcoming new show.

Lee Jung-jae has had quite some experience behind the screen. The Korean actor has been cast in several productions, including The Thieves, Assassination, Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds, and Along With the Gods: The Last 49 Days, his agency, Artist Company, said. Jung-jae is also said to know just what it takes to make a movie successful. He became a global sensation after starring on Netflix’s Squid Game, playing the role of Gi-hun. In the award-winning drama, Jung-jae was also known as Player 456.

Several publications reported that he has demanded to be paid a whopping R18.5 million for each episode of the upcoming show. Squid Game 2 is expected to be released in 2023, Daily Mail reported. The show is expected to have up to 13 episodes, so that Jung-jae will be making $13 million (an estimated R244 million) by the end of the season.

The original castmates, Lee Jung-jae, Wi Ha-joon, Gong Yoo, and Lee Byung-hun, will return in the upcoming show. Several other new faces will also be joining the OGs, WION reported.

According to India Today, Jung-jae also found himself being accused of trying his rope on his friend, former BigBang member T.O.P in the upcoming show. However, on Thursday, Artist Company was said to have released a press release denying the claims.
