Former Minister of Police Fikile Mbalula has been dragged on social media after he expressed his frustration at the delay in justice for rapper AKA’s murder.

The ANC secretary-general also shared his sadness at the premature death of the slain star.

AKA – real name Kiernan Forbes- and friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane were shot and killed on 10 February outside a Durban restaurant. No arrests have been made.

FIKILE MBALULA DEMANDS JUSTICE FOR AKA

Fikile Mbalula – who served as the Minister of Police from 2017 – 2018 – tweeted a picture of a fan wearing a jacket featuring AKA’s face. 

He tweeted: “His killers must be found. We cannot give up on this”.

He added: “I miss my brother AKA Kiernan Forbes.”

Following Forbes’s death in February, Fikile and other ANC stalwarts visited the rapper’s Bryanston home. Speaking to the SABC, the outspoken politician said of the death: “It was a hit, AKA was assassinated. Broad daylight”.

Fikile also attended AKA’s public memorial service, where he was filmed singing and dancing to the late rapper’s music.

But Fikile was slammed for his actions, particularly his tweet, which was deemed a “PR stunt.”

@El123V: “So why don’t the ANC bring his killers to justice instead of using AKA’s name as a PR stunt?”

@hawXli: “So then do something about his death. This guy really is trying to stay relevant on Twitter these days.”

@goolammv: “You are the ruling party. You have all the powers. Stop talking and acting like the opposition. Crack the whip. Call the minister and get an update. It’s not interfering. It’s called being concerned.”

@ameliaduma94: “Campaigning for elections. We see you.”

MURDER INVESTIGATION: WHAT DO POLICE SAY?

Although various publications have made allegations about “breakthroughs” in the AKA murder investigation, police claim that all will be revealed in due time.
