Police Minister Bheki Cele allegedly made it known that it was not the duty of the South African Police Service (SAPS) to offer Sizok’thola host Xolani Khumalo and crew protection.

Sizok’thola host Xolani Khumalo and crew are also under investigation after one of the drug dealers died after interrogating in a drug bust.

Moja Love has since confirmed that the alleged crime is under investigation. The Minister allegedly has it that Moja Love is responsible for offering protection to its crew rather than the SAPS.

The sentiments come after the public pleaded with the SAPS to offer Sizok’thola host Xolani Khumalo and crew protection in the backdrop of death threats from drug dealers.

However, the channel has since made it known that security measures have since been enforced to protect the crew against the death threats.

Here are some reactions that flooded social media in the backdrop of the Bheki Cele’s alleged sentiments on Sizok’thola’s crew protection demands.

@magqib tweeted: “The channel is making a lot of money out that show. Xolani can make a huge fortune by being Registered as an informer of the police because these cases are all positive. Then the police would be compelled to protect him.”

@NdumisoNdwandw8 posted: “But he was doing their Job that was the least they could do ay lelikhehle seliphendula manJe ade little smoke leskhathi.”

@BukamuT tweeted: ‘I stand with Cele in this. The tv station is benefiting from the show, they must use that money to get Xolani the required protection. SAPS didn’t ask Xolani to do that, and if he doesn’t feel safe, he’s free to quit.”

@julianNkruger posted: “Xolani is doing this for an income. He is not a whistle-blower. So Cele is correct. The company profiting from his show must arrange for his protection.”
