Remember the Burger King employee who went viral after unbagging the measly gift he received from his workplace after celebrating being employed there for 27 years and taking no days off? Well, he received almost R7 million in donations after kind netizens decided that he deserved more for his dedication.

And now reports have revealed that the loyal employee just bought himself a house with the donations.

Burger King employee gets R4.7m in donations

54-year-old Kevin Ford broke many hearts when he shared a clip of the gift bag and its “meager” contents which he received from his employers at Burger King after working there for 27 years.

Many people felt like the bag was hardly meaningful especially considering the huge milestone and his loyalty to the establishment for all those years.

Soon enough, a GoFundMe page was set up for Kevin and surprisingly, donations started pouring in.

The fundraiser gained $350k (almost R7 million) after it was set up by his daughter Seryna.

And now over a year later, Kevin was able to buy himself a house. Taking to his TikTok and Instagram pages, he shared a video of his new home which he captioned, “It’s a Christmas miracle.”

What’s next?

According to Kevin, he will be using the rest of his money to fund his children’s education. He will also be giving some to his daughter to help her get a home for herself and his grandkids.

The rest he says, will be put away for retirement.
