Woolworths has shocked the public with its cheeky response to a shopper who found a frog in a prepacked packet of spinach.

The retailer has vowed to “investigate” the incident, which made headlines in a viral video.

WOOLWORTHS RESPONDS TO FROG IN SPINACH

In a video posted on TikTok, Johannesburg woman Connie Bhebhe discovered a live frog in her packet of spinach.

“Ixoxo [frog],” the woman says in a viral video of the tiny creature. Tagging the retailer, she captioned the clip: “Please explain”.

Bhebhe ordered the fresh produce via the retailer’s Dash App.

Despite the unpleasant surprise, Bhebhe claimed she would continue to shop at the store.

She told The South African: “It’s not a train smash, but it definitely opened my eyes to how disconnected we are from how our food grows.”

In a follow-up TikTok video, she added: “Don’t blacklist Woolies after this”

Responding to the video, Woolworths posted: “Oh no! Looks like our salads are so fresh, even the wildlife wants to get in on the goodness.”

According to Bhebhe, the company has vowed to “investigate” and share their findings with her.
