‘We are hungry’: NSFAS recipients left stranded AGAIN
Students across South Africa revealed on social media on Friday, 1 September that they are yet to receive their NSFAS allowances.

South African students, who were meant to receive funds from NSFAS this week reveal they were left stranded by the financial aid scheme.

NSFAS RECIPIENTS ‘HUNGRY’
NSFAS beneficiaries revealed on social media on Friday, 1 September that they have not received any money from the government student bursary this past week.
HTXT reports that millions of student beneficiaries of the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) have had to deal with a short delay in receiving their stipends for the month of September due to a “technical glitch” in the recently introduced direct payment system.
@StelliesSRC account on Twitter said on Friday that students have not received any funds: “Dear @myNSFAS our students are hungry! Let’s make this hashtag trend! #WeAreHungry #NSFAS.”
While @iTwo000 said: “NSFAS is failing students with its new payment system. They released the below statement yesterday regarding allowance but still students are yet to receive their allowances.”
The statement on NSFAS’ Twitter account reads: “The National Student Financial Aid Scheme is aware of the fake reports indicating that payments of the NSFAS beneficiaries have been delayed to 05 September 2023 due to “delays between NSFAS and service providers”.
“The scheme had a technical glitch resulting in the non-payment of allowances today [31st August]; however, this has been fixed and NSFAS will effect payment by midnight 31st August 2023 for the amount to reflect in the beneficiaries’ account by 12h00 1st September 2023.”
