PYTHON FOUND WITH SWOLLEN MIDSECTION

According to the police, the woman — who was only identified as Jahrah — had been missing since Sunday 23 October when she had left to go and fetch rubber from a local plantation.

The Betara Jambi Police Chief, AKP Herafa, told the outlet that when her husband realised she had been gone for an awfully long time, he decided to search the area. This is when he came across her headscarf, jacket, sandals and knife, but couldn’t find his wife.

The following day, the man returned to the area with a search party and came across the large python. They noticed that the snake had a swollen midsection, meaning it had eaten something big.

WOMAN’S BODY RESCUED INSIDE SNAKE’S STOMACH

The disturbing video shows the rescuers killing the snake as one volunteer pins it on its head with a branch while others hit it on the swollen area.

The video also shows the rescuers cutting the python open to get the woman’s body out.

“Everyone was astonished.

“It turned out that the woman we were looking for was in the snake’s stomach,” Anto, the head of the local Terjun Gajah village, said, according to the New York Post.

Anto further explained that it probably took the python two hours to bite the victim, suffocate her by wrapping itself around her with its body and swallow her.

The official revealed that an 8.2 metre-long python was previously spotted in the village, but it got away.

“That one got away, leaving locals worried that bigger snakes are still in the forest.”
