The term ‘penis fish’ derives from the strange body of the urechis unicinctus. Although many people havent seen a urechis unicinctus with their own eyes, it’s said that locals in Argentina are not infrequent with the grim-like sea worms as they have previously lined up on shore in the country’s south another time.

Upon evaluation of the so-called penis fish, it was discovered that the sea creatures measured an estimated ten inches. According to the Bio Med Central, the sea creature prefer to live in mud and can tolerate and utilise well-known toxicant-sulfide. The sea creatures come in shades of yellow and brown and have silky smooth skin, A-Z Animal said.

Although they are common in Asia, in 2019, a school of penis fish washed off on a beach in California, about 50 miles north of San Francisco, BBC reported. And, although they are formally known as urechis unicinctus and penis fish, they also go by innkeeper worms.

“I’ve heard my share of imaginative theories from beachcombers, such as flotsam of a wrecked bratwurst freighter,” Ivan Parr, a biologist from the Western Section of the Wildlife Society was quoted as saying by the New York Post after he’d seen the strange looking worms.
