Elon Musk’s sister, Tosca, is finally opening up about her relationship with the Tesla founder and how his financial status has affected her.
In an interview with British publication the Sunday Times, Musk sings her older brother’s praises and also voices her concern over her kids being exposed to the public’s opinion about him. Musk (Elon) recently abandoned a deal to purchase Twitter for a massive $44 billion and he recently made headlines after it was learnt that he secretly fathered a set of twins with an executive at one of his companies.
“I don’t like that my kids watch YouTube and there are jokes about my brother; it makes them feel a little uncomfortable. And they don’t understand why people would say [negative] things about him,” Musk said.
The 47-year-old is a single mother to nine-year-old twins Isabeau and Grayson, who were conceived through IVF. She is also a filmmaker and director who runs her own Netflix-type streaming platform called Passionflix.
“I didn’t want to have children with somebody I didn’t want to spend the rest of my life with… And have to be attached to [that person] and have them make decisions about my children and my life ultimately,” she said.
TOSCA MUSK: ‘I’M VERY FRUGAL’
While 51-year-old Elon Musk may be one of the wealthiest people in the world, that doesn’t mean Tosca gets to ride the gravy train.
Musk reveals that she finds it quite annoying when people assume she is just as rich as her brother and admits to being quite frugal.
“I don’t have tons of money. [Elon and I] are not the same person. Also, it’s not like he’s cutting me checks. We’re two different people. I’m very frugal. I love a good coupon,” she said.
Musk also defended her brother, saying in part: “I’m incredibly proud of my older brother. He is a phenomenon. He’s exceptional in so many ways and his goals to help humanity are beyond anything that anybody can imagine. So there’s no taint at all.”
