The killer goes viral…for all the wrong reasons

Pictures of Herrin’s reaction to his sentence soon went viral on social media which bizarrely resulted in many people calling for his sentence to be reduced.

TikTok user Hannah Kosh shared a video of herself on 4 August speaking about how many social media users were speaking out against Herrin’s sentence because it was too ”harsh” and soon her comment section was filled with similar comments about the teen killer being “too cute” for a 24-year prison term.

“Cameron Herrin deserves better,” @Reinasanscouronne writes while another user says “You’re too cute,” while making mention of Herrin’s looks.

Meanwhile, a quick search on the social media app shows hundreds of accounts dedicated to Cameron Herrin with many people using the hashtag #JusticeForCameronHerrrin in their user bios.

A cult-like group of people has now gone on to call on for Herrin’s sentence to be lowered in a petition. According to Insider, the petition has already been signed 28 000 times.

Too handsome for prison: Similar cults born from murderer sympathisers

This wouldn’t be the first time a male convict gains outside support from women who appear to have fallen head over heels in love because of their good looks.

Serial killers like Ted Bundy and Charles Manson had a steady band of followers who were devoured to supporting the convicts, 2oceansvibe reports.

Dailymail also reports how Chelsea Holmes, the soon-to-be star of a reality series called Prisoner of Love, fell for an inmate she met through a pen pal programme.

Holme’s relationship is reportedly such a big success that she had convinced two other people to connect with inmates.

“There’s a stigma most people have about those in prison, but most of them are trying to better their lives – not to mention, a lot of these guys are smoking hot,” says Holmes.
