PATRON: ‘I’M NOT LEAVING YOU A TIP’

A Facebook Group titled B*tchy Waiter shared a note left for a waiter by a customer who refused to tip after being served..

In the note, the customer revealed that he won’t be tipping the waiter because they asked if they wanted change.

“Because you asked if I wanted change, I’m not leaving you the tip. I’m sorry but you don’t ask if the customer wants change. If they are still sitting at the table, then they do want the change.”

The patron also revealed that his family has been in the restaurant business their whole lives and they know how customers should be treated.

SOCIAL MEDIA REACTS TO NOTE LEFT FOR WAITER

Deborah Heppner Gaylord: “In 43 years of serving, I never asked “do you want the change?”. It makes the customer think you assume you should have it, no matter how much, which is tacky to me. We carried our own bank, so it was easy.”

Kimberly Bristol: “I guess people are really sensitive these days. I don’t remember what I used to say as a server, it’s been a long time. But I’ve had servers ask me if I need change, and I certainly didn’t get my panties in a bunch over it. I didn’t leave them a nasty note, or give them less of a tip, either. Waiting tables is hard work. I’m very forgiving, because even though it’s been years since I waited tables, I haven’t forgotten how hard it is, and how awful it feels to get stiffed.”

Gina Marie Gibson: “I’ve been a server for 15 years and have never asked anyone if they wanted change!”

Vera Crane: “Shame the customer had to be the one to point that out, but that was an AH move by not leaving anything. But I’ll bet She’ll never make that rookie mistake again.”

Kryssie Ridolfi: “20-year veteran here. When I get a cash payment, I just say “I’ll be right back with your change,” but that’s from years of dealing with jerks like this who look for any little excuse not to tip. Regardless of how the server phrased it, we have so little info on the server… but we do have this note, so imho, the guest is the villain here.”
