Mbalula was among the party’s national, provincial, and regional leadership that led hundreds of ANC supporters to Tshwane House, under the banner #BuyaTshwane, which means come back Tshwane, on Friday afternoon.

“Our people here in Tshwane are suffering and it has forced the ANC to not zip but stand up for our people and where possible work together with other parties to work for the good governance of Tshwane,” said Mbalula.

MBALULA SAYS DA FAILED TO IMPROVE TSHWANE

ANC secretary general Fikile Mbalula says the DA has failed to improve the City of Tshwane in the seven years that it has been ruling.

He launched the “BuyaTshwane” campaign in Mamelodi on Wednesday, ahead of the protests on Friday. He claims that the DA has reversed all the gains made under the ANC government.

“All that the ANC is interested in, is to get this municipality back. Bankrupt as it is. Because what is important is service delivery and our people are crying for services on the ground. We are genuine as the ANC to say that this coalition of the DA would not have come into place if we did not make mistakes.”

The ANC’s first deputy secretary-general, Nomvula Mokonyane read out a memorandum of demands that was received by the new council speaker, Mncedisi Ndzwanana.

As previously reported, Mbalula said that the DA cancelled the Employee Work Initiative Programs, wi-fi services all over the city, townships, and hotspot areas, and also destroyed township development.

“Most residents of Tshwane are struggling with access to road services and transport networks. This is because the Bus Rapid Transport system is no longer functioning,” he added.
