Three female security guards who work in Maokeng, Free State were nowhere to be found when another team came to relieve them.

Police are seeking public assistance locating three female security guards who mysteriously disappeared while on duty in Maokeng, Free State.

The three women were nowhere to be found when private security personnel posted at Seeisoville Stadium in Maokeng came to relieve the night shift staff on Wednesday, 17 August 2022, at about 05:30.

SEARCH ON FOR FEMALE SECURITY GUARDS

According to police, personal belongings and cellphones of the three female security guards namely, Mamokgo Julia Tladi (44), Gladys Masabata Motoai (37) and Maletsatsi Mofokeng (39) were found in the guard room.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Mahlomola Kareli said Maokeng Police were then summoned to the scene and a search party was launched.

Mahlomola said the search continues and so far investigators are following every lead to try and locate the missing women.

“They were last seen wearing black Isidingo Security uniform as depicted in the photos.

“Police in Maokeng are pleading to anyone with information on their whereabouts to contact Lieutenant Colonel Kobus Erasmus on 082 301 2972 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or the nearest police station. Information can also be shared through the MySAPS App.”

FREE STATE MEN IN COURT FOR MURDER

In another incident, two men accused of killing their mothers appeared in court on Monday, 15 August. Both victims were elderly women. The acting police commissioner in the Free State, Major-General Modise, condemned the killings.

On Friday, 12 August, members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) were called to Masike Street in Rocklands, Kagisanong, where they found the body of a 65-year-old woman dead in a room. She was lying next to her brother and had been stabbed multiple times.

Lieutenant-Colonel Thabo Covane said the complainant – the victim’s brother – alleged that his nephew, who may have been using drugs, asked his mother for money and when she told him she didn’t have any he killed her.

“The suspect got angry, went out of the house, came back with a piece of iron and stabbed the deceased with it several times. When he was done he turned to the complainant and also stabbed him in the chest,” explained the Free State police spokesperson.

The suspect allegedly locked his mother and uncle in the house and they only received help the following day.
