SABC SOAPIE: NEW TIMESLOT

Entertainment commentator, Mlu reports that the SABC1 soapie, Skeem Saam will be changed from 18:30 slot to 19:30 from 2024.

The soapie will be competing with e.tv’s most-watched soapie Scandal!, and Mzansi Magic’s latest telenovela, My Brother’s Keeper.

Viewers of the youth soapie are concerned the show will lose viewers as Scandal! owns the timeslot with an average of 5 million viewers per month and continuously changes storylines.

@SnehBongekile tweeted: “Lol Skeem Saam competing with a show that has new storylines every 2 weeks, a show that complete storylines. A show that never drags storylines. Lol they won’t survive this time slot.”

‘SKEEM SAAM’ FANS REACTIONS

@AsandaBhenya: “Lol, imagine airing Skeem Saam same slot time 19:30 with Scandal. Scandal is gonna win, because they don’t drag their storylines, also Scandal is more interesting than Skeem Saam, so it’s a bad move for SABC1.”

@TuChelsea12: “Lol I was thinking the same. Scandal is miles ahead of Skeem Saam and u want to fight scandal for viewership? Really? To leave Mdala for Pax and Mahlatse endless bullying?”

@Cliff_Mampz: “Couldn’t they at least give them the 8pm slot…I mean it’s more interesting than Generations, in fact Skeem Saam is the only soapie that is good on that channel. Uzalo is trash.”

@SnehBongekile: “Lol Skeem Saam competing with a show that has new storylines every 2 weeks, a show that complete storylines. A show that never drags storylines. Lol they won’t survive this time slot.”
