‘Diep City’ actors bid farewell to telenovela [WATCH]

‘Diep City’ actors Kgaogelo Monama, Mduduzi Mabaso and Moshine Mametja bid farewell to the Mzansi Magic telenovela.

Actors Kgaogelo Monama who played Lerato, Mduduzi Mabaso who played Mgedeza, and Moshine Mametja who played Mary in the Black Brain Pictures’ telenovela Diep City were emotional on set as they said their goodbyes to the show.

 Talented Diep City actress Kgaogelo Monama who played Lerato in the telenovela told Daily Sun that she’s going to miss playing the well-known character. 

“It was great playing this role and I learned a lot,” Monama added that it feels unreal that the show is ending. 

She added that she’s happy that they came this far as a team and that they came out stronger. 

Award-winning actor Mduduzi Mabaso who played the gangster Mgedeza in the show tells the publication that it’s a bitter farewell for him to say goodbye to the role.

“It’s a sense of loss as I have given so much to the character,” Mabaso added that he’s grateful that Black Brain gave him a chance to play the gangster role. 

Actress Moshine Mametja who played Mary said she’s quite emotional that the show is coming to an end. 

“I’ve cried, laughed, and enjoyed the experience,” added Mametja.

ACTOR-PRODUCER MANDLA N BIDS FAREWELL TO TELENOVELA

Actor and Diep City’s creative director for Black Brain Pictures Mandla N told Daily Sun that the telenovela has been a hit on South African television.

DiepCity fans have played a big role in the success of the show over the past two years, and we are thankful for their support.”  

Executive producer Mpumelelo Nhlapo also said the production company has a slew of new and exciting shows in the pipeline that they’re developing with their broadcast partners and that they can’t wait to share them with viewers.  

The cancelled telenovela received nine nominations at this year’s South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs).
