Tonight is a special and rare moon event: it’s the last HARVEST SUPERMOON of the year for 2023.

It doesn’t happen every day. What could be better than songs about the lunar event?

Freshlygroud: Fire is Low

Freshlyground is an iconic South African band, first started in 2002.

They’re known best for songs like ‘I’d Like’ and ‘Doo Bee Doo’, but the track best suited for tonight’s special full moon event has to be this one: Fire is Low.

Fire is Low comes from their fourth album, Radio Africa.

Prophets of Da City are given credit as one of SA’s founding hip-hop groups. The group started in 1988, releasing songs like ‘ROOTS’ and ‘Never Again’.

Ballyhoo: Man on the Moon

The band Ballyhoo released their iconic track in 1980, and it’s been part of South African radio song playlists ever since.

‘Man on the Moon’ (YouTube) is the story of someone who has to choose between two people, confessing his thoughts to the man on the moon. Maybe that wasn’t a good idea, but it made a great song.

Shortly after its release, it soon became a South African music chart-topper.
