Following the release of her 2020 album, The Lion King: The Gift, Beyoncé surprised fans with the announcement of Break My Soul on Friday 17 June. The track is upbeat, full of energy and perfect for the summertime.

The track has a songwriting credit from American songwriter Ryan Tedder, who has worked with the likes of Adele, Ed Sheeran, Jennifer Lopez, Maroon 5 and Katy Perry.

Break My Soul was produced by American R&B star Raphael Saadiq.

Taking to Twitter, tweeps have praised Beyoncé’s Break My Soul for its energetic and dance vibe. Could it be the song of the summer?

“Beyoncé said 90s babies, I’ve got you! The queen is back. Bow down,” wrote one tweep.

“This song is a whole vibe, great message too, don’t let anybody break your soul! One thing about Beyoncé, she will reinvent her sound over & over again and she never misses. An icon,” wrote another tweep.

“Being honest Beyoncé did not have to destroy us like that. Like this song is literally perfection. How am I supposed to go back to normal music again? #BreakMySoul”
