The ANCYL has gotten its autonomy back. This is according to the newly elected President of the wing, Collen Malatji, who spoke alongside other members of the executive at the party’s headquarters in Johannesburg. His remarks follow an unconcluded National Conference that will conclude hybridly, similar to that of its mother organisation. Speaking to the media, Malatji expressed confidence in the new wave of leadership, adding that all members of the Youth League are unified, despite their prior contrasting stances. Malatji, the well-known member of the ANCYL as well as a member of Parliament, was elected as the President of the Youth League, in what was an uncontested race against him. This comes after years of him being the forerunner in the Presidential race and a failed last-minute nomination of Aphiwe Mkhangelwa from the floor.
