The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued an Orange Level 5 warning for wind in the Western Cape. The passing cold front is expected to be associated with near gale to gale force westerly to north-westerly winds 60-80km/h gusting up to 100km/h, which will affect the coastal towns along the south-western and south-coast, including the City of Cape Town. The strong winds are associated with another cold front that is expected to hit the drenched province. The weather warning matrix indicates there is a medium chance of significant impacts. The SAWS warned that damage to coastal infrastructure, disruption of beachfront activities and small harbours and ports are expected. It also warned of large, unpredictable waves along the coast.
