A Cape Town man is on the run after allegedly robbing a tourist in Bo-Kaap over the weekend. The incident was captured on video. City of Cape Town MayCo Member for Safety and Security, JP Smith, said the Safety and Security Directorate became aware of the video circulating and attempted to verify its authenticity.

The victim, who was recording a selfie video when the incident occurred, was tracked down shortly before leaving South Africa. She reportedly agreed to open a criminal case. Smith said a warrant of arrest had been issued for the alleged robber, and the City is supporting the police in tracking him down. According to the Cape Argus, the victim is a 28-year-old woman from South Korea. The incident occurred in Chiappini Street.
