A Grade 12 student was killed after a brawl at a school camp at Mpirwabirwa Secondary School in Limpopo. According to IOL, Willem Ngoepe died on Friday after being beaten in the head with an item by another learner at the matric school camp, according to Limpopo Department of Education spokesperson Mike Maringa. A rash of school deaths has occurred, with Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga blaming this on gang violence in schools. Motshekga told parliament a few months ago that steps were being put in place to combat gang violence. After more than a half-dozen students were killed in three months, schools have become the scene of violent crimes in which children are killed.
