A 31-year-old stepfather is expected to appear before the Praktiseer Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo on Tuesday 11 July 2023 after he allegedly murdered a one-year-old baby and assaulting his girlfriend. The gruesome incident happened on Sunday, 9 July 2023.  South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson in Limpopo, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said police received a complaint from Bothashoek village outside Burgersfort in Sekhukhune District about the suspected assault of a minor by her stepfather. “According to the information available at this stage it alleged that the suspect returned back home before the girlfriend and subsequently assaulted the deceased. The girlfriend also returned back home at about 20:45. On her arrival the suspect allegedly accused her of stalking him, ultimately assaulting her in the presence of their neighbours,” Ledwaba explained.
