Temperatures are expected to plummet causing very cold, wet and windy weather conditions in the Northern Cape and Western Cape on Thursday, 8 June. The South African Weather Service (SAWS) had warned that the cold weather will start on Wednesday, 7 June. The weather service said a series of cold fronts are expected to make landfall over the south-western parts of the Western Cape from Wednesday late in the evening into Thursday, dropping the day temperatures significantly from Thursday into Friday.

SAWS also issued a Yellow level 2 warning for wind and waves in the Western Cape. The warning is valid from Wednesday, 7 June to Thursday, 8 June. The weather service said strong north-easterly to westerly winds are expected between Cape Columbine and Cape Agulhas from Wednesday late in the evening.
