The South African motor industry saw 532,098 units sold in 2023. In comparison to the total number of vehicles sold in 2022 which was 529 556 it reflects an increase of only 0.5%. According to TopAuto, the Toyota Hilux once again reigned supreme as South Africa’s top-selling bakkie last month. The Japanese company sold 2858 units locally beating the Ford Ranger by over 800 units. The US company sold 1936 units of its Ranger in December 2023.
