General Wally Rhoode, the head of Presidential Protection Unit (PPU), President Cyril Ramaphosa’s security team, has lashed out at authorities in Poland after they were not allowed to disembark from their plane at Warsaw Airport. The South African Airways (SAA) chartered plane by the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) was carrying a reported 120 people, including journalists and was prevented from entering Poland without original permits for the weapons. Ramaphosa and his African counterparts, including Senegal, Zambia and Egypt, are meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin as well as Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky to help end the conflict, which has been ongoing since February 2022 when the Kremlin invaded its neighbour.
