Despite her resignation as a councillor in the City of Johannesburg, Dr Mpho Phalatse says she has every intention of eventually making a comback to politics. Phalatse said it was the political and economic climate which prompted her to reconsider her career as a councillor and is going back to the medical field. “I have, throughout my career, never compromised on doing quality work and I am concerned that faced with a choice between my Council responsibilities and medical career, I am inclined to choose to save a life,” she said in her resignation letter. The former Johannerburg Mayor is, however, has stressed that she is still a Democratic Alliance (DA) member.
