Rand Water says Eskom will do maintenance work on the transformers that supply the Zuikerbosch Water Treatment Plant, resulting in a seven-hour supply disruption in all Gauteng metros. The maintenance is scheduled for Sunday, 21 January from 8:00 – 15:00. In a statement, Rand Water said during the maintenance, pumping capacity will be reduced at Eikenhof, Palmiet, and Mapleton Systems. As a result, some areas in the City of Johannesburg, Tshwane and Ekurhuleni, may experience low pressure and no water supply. The utility said the maintenance might also impact supply to local municipalities in Gauteng such as Rand West, Mogale City, Merafong, Madibeng, Lesedi, Govan Mbeki, Rustenburg, and Victor Khanye.
