On the evening of Monday, 13 November, certain areas of Johannesburg, notably Midrand and other northern regions, bore the brunt of an unexpected and destructive hailstorm. The havoc wrought by this unanticipated weather event was particularly severe in Midrand, where the storm left a trail of devastation in its wake. Hailstones, measuring up to the size of eggs, pounded the affected areas, resulting in extensive damage to both properties and vehicles. The force of the storm was such that some roads became impassable, blocked by a deluge of hail and debris.
