A Gauteng Education official was wounded this afternoon, Thursday, 23 November, in what appeared to be a drive-by shooting. “The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) wishes to express its deep concern following an unfortunate incident that took place this afternoon on Thursday, 23 November 2023, where a Johannesburg South District official was shot at while in his car,” Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona confirmed. “According to information at our disposal, the male official, from our Johannesburg South District overseeing Learning and Teaching Support Material (LTSM), was in his vehicle at the Chris Hani Road and Golden Highway intersection near Southgate Mall in Johannesburg, when he was suddenly shot by an unidentified assailant,” said Mabona.
