The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a yellow level 2 warning for disruptive rainfall in two provinces on Monday, 8 January. The weather service said disruptive rainfall, which may lead to localised flooding of susceptible formal/informal settlements, low-lying roads and bridges, is expected over the western and southern parts of KwaZulu-Natal and the southern high-lying areas of Mpumalanga. Meanwhile, the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Disaster Management says the death toll due to inclement weather conditions in the province during the festive season has increased to 40 while five are reported missing.
