A truck driver and his accomplice were arrested in Bushbuckridge on Tuesday, 29 August 2023, for allegedly planning and staging a hijacking and robbery of a truck loaded with liquor valued at about 50,000 Rand. South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson in Mpumalanga, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, said that on Tuesday, 23 August 2023, at about 06:45, the truck driver, employed by a certain beverage wholesaler was driving a truck loaded with alcoholic beverages along the R533 together with two of his crews. Mohlala said the three were reportedly assigned to deliver at Matibidi Trust, and as they approached near Inyaka Dam, two armed men are said to have emerged from the nearby bushes and then held them at gunpoint.
